Practice

Baker Batchelder Architects recognizes that some may seek signature artistry in their architecture, but they take pleasure in a design creativity that at once serves both the building and its neighborhood. Stylistically correct, Baker Batchelder Architects’ new buildings respect the architecture of their neighbors. Additions are often indistinguishable from the existing structures. Within this envelope of architectural consistency, they incorporate all elements of their clients’ needs.

Construction is expensive. The firm’s goal is to create construction drawings and specifications that will result in a smooth and error free building process. They consider builders to be teammates, not adversaries, in the construction process. Baker Batchelder Architects encourages a spirit of fairness and cooperation between the owner, builder, and architect while at the same time keeping all parties focused on the goal of timely project completion according to the contract.

In operation since 1983, the partners of Baker Batchelder Architects have purposefully kept their practice small and hands on. The very reason they became architects in the first place, to actively create buildings, keeps them engaged through the whole process, from the first sketches to input with the paint colors. Enjoying every aspect of the practice and taking pride in their high standard of care for each project has lead to many satisfied clients enjoying their “new” homes.
